In light of Maat Association interest in combating hate speech and violent extremism, and with the desire to deepen young people's understanding of the concept of hate speech and ways to combat it, Maat Association for Peace and Development, in collaboration with Czech centers in Egypt, held a training workshop on the 9th of July titled "Navigating Hate Speech Online…Creating an Online Safe Space for Yourself" attended by a wide range of Egyptian university students.
The workshop, held at Maat Training Center, focused on enhancing participants' abilities to recognize forms of hidden hate speech within language, which include logical fallacies and loaded questions. During the workshop, attendees engaged in a series of activities that sparked discussions about the most prominent forms of linguistic hate they have encountered and how they realistically deal with them. Before moving on to introducing the most prominent digital methods to overcome hidden hatred within language, participants were introduced to a set of digital tools and strategies that can be utilized to limit the spaces and frameworks of exposure to forms of linguistic hatred.
